Civil Emergencies - Emergency Planning
Bexley Council have a legal duty under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004
to provide and maintain robust and resilient contingency plans. These plans
are designed to enable the mobilisation of resources ,at short notice, in
response to an emergency.
The plan is a guidance document for staff who are responsible for implementing
and managing the council’s response. It sets out what action the council
will take and how including the command, control and communication structures.
It highlights the roles and responsibilities of Council services, and how
the Council will work with others to respond to a Major Emergency.
The council’s roles will include:
- Providing support for the emergency services
- Providing support and care for the local and wider community
- Using resources to mitigate the effects of an emergency
- Leading the recovery stage
- Maintaining the normal day-to-day services
