Howbury Site Regeneration

Howbury SiteThe Howbury Regeneration Brief was adopted by the London Borough of Bexley on 11 July 2008, following consideration of extensive public consultation.

The Regeneration Brief aims to secure a viable and sustainable redevelopment that will:

  • meet the needs of the local community,
  • set the benchmark for design quality, and
  • help lead the regeneration of Slade Green.

The development will include open space (as there is a deficiency of open space in this part of the Borough), a new branch Library, new community facilities, a Police office and possibly shops. The Council is carrying out a separate study to determine what community facilities should be provided as part of the redevelopment of the Howbury site.

Development will only proceed after the Council has received and considered a planning application and reviewed the results of public consultation. Complete redevelopment of the site will not occur until after 2012 when Council staff have moved into the new Bexleyheath civic offices.
