Bexley’s Corporate Planning Framework for 2007-08
Bexley’s Performance Plan 2007-08
All Councils are required to publish a Performance Plan, which contains details
of performance on all Best Value Performance Indicators over the past year.
In addition, performance targets must be set for the current year (2007/08)
and the subsequent two years. A statement confirming that the Council is adopting
the code of practice in its approach to workforce matters and contracting is
also required.
For ‘four star’ authorities like Bexley, guidance from central
Government allows production of a plan that simply meets the requirements listed
above. However, in Bexley we recognise that the Performance Plan is one of
our three key corporate planning documents and in addition to these statutory
requirements, the Performance Plan also includes the following:
- A summary of the Council’s key achievements in 2006/07;
- Details around our improvement planning process
- Results of external inspection, including the latest results from the
Comprehensive Performance Assessment and Joint Area Review inspections
undertaken in October 2006;
- Details around service review, the Council’s Value for Money Programme
and our Overview and Scrutiny programme;
- Details on our Performance Management systems; A summary of how the
Council is financed and how the budget is managed; and
- Current performance and three year targets for the Council’s local
performance indicators, which supplement the national set of BVPIs and allow
us to measure progress against our local priorities.
