Communicating with the public
Bexley has a well-established and proactive approach to communicating with its residents, partners and the wider world.
The Council uses a wide range of media, from traditional print and advertising, to electronic and interactive media. Its main direct communication with residents is the Bexley Magazine, which is published four times a year and delivered to every home and business in the borough.
In its communications activity, the Council seeks to –
- promote awareness of the Council’s activities and the services it provides, so that people are not prevented from using them by ignorance or lack of understanding
- promote mutual understanding between the Council and those with whom it has contact, influencing attitudes and behaviour in support of specific policies and programmes
- encourage public participation in the Council’s decision and policy-making processes
- promote Bexley as an attractive place to live and work.
The Council aims to engage in a positive dialogue with the local community, seeing the views of local people as a valuable resource fundamental to the policy, decision-making and improvement process. It also works to provide the community has an understanding of what the Council is trying to achieve and the constraints within which it works.
We welcome your comments on the Council’s communications.
