Civil Emergencies - Emergency Plans

Emergency PlansThe council has developed the major emergency plans and it consists of the following:

  • An introduction to the types of emergency or major incident likely to be faced.
  • The roles and responsibilities of the council and its departments in a major incident.
  • Activation and alerting procedures.
  • Contact details of other organisations.
  • Adverse weather conditions
  • Working with the media
  • Dealing with release of chemical or biological agents
  • Recovery Management

This is a flexible plan and can be applied to most incidents however in addition to the major emergency plan additional plans have been developed around specific roles and incidents as follows:

  • River Thames Tidal Flooding (currently under review)
  • Non Tidal Flooding
  • Influenza Pandemic Contingency Plan
  • Borough Emergency Control Room Manual
  • Business Continuity Plan
  • Business Recovery Plan

In addition to these plans the council is helped in emergency situations by a multi –faith major incident plan. This plan can be activated at London wide level. At Borough level the Major Incident Plan is initiated by the Archdeacon of Bromley & Bexley, The Venerable Paul Wright. He makes use not only of Anglican clergy within the Borough of Bexley, but has contacts with other Christian ministers and those of other Faith traditions. Those interested in finding out more, whether they can help or simply for information, please email him on archdeacon.bromley@rochester.anglican.org.
