What we do:

The emergency planning team are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the Council's emergency response services are properly developed and maintained
  • Reviewing and maintaining the Council's Major Emergency Plans
  • Reviewing and maintaining the Council's Business Continuity and Recovery Plans
  • Providing Business Continuity Planning advice and assistance to businesses and voluntary organisations
  • Arranging emergency response training and exercise sessions for all staff to test the written emergency plans
  • Helping to develop Department plans
  • Holding regular Emergency Awareness Seminars
  • Administering the Council's Emergency Planning Liaison & Review Group
  • Administering the Bexley Emergency Services Liaison Panel. This panel comprises representatives from the Emergency Services, utilities and volunteer organisations
  • Maintaining the Borough Emergency Control Centre (BECC) and ensuring its communications and other facilities are operational
  • Administering an Acting Controller rota system that guarantees a senior Council Officer is available out of hours
