Publication Scheme
8. Fees and Charges
Our aim is to make as much information as possible available to you free of charge and much is published on the Council’s website. We publish a number of free leaflets and booklets on the services we offer to the public. There is Internet access at each of the Council’s libraries and access can be made available at the Contact centres and Council’s main reception areas.
Photocopying charges
The current photocopying charges are 10 pence per A4 sheet and 20 pence per A3 sheet. However, if you want to re-use or reproduce our publications for commercial purposes, the above charges may be reviewed.
Statutory and non-statutory fees and charges
There are fixed fees in relation to certain Statutory and non-statutory publications and services available from the Council. Examples include Building control, Land charges, Planning applications and Public protection. Where these separate charges apply, this is indicated by a “£” symbol in the Schedule of Classes.
Freedom of Information requests
The statutory Regulations state that requests for information below a ceiling of £450 of staff time must be provided free of charge. This has been calculated to equate to 2 ½ days of staff working time. If the fee would exceed this limit, the Council can refuse to supply the information, or decide to supply it but recover the full costs of doing so (including the first £450).
We can always charge for “disbursements” – the costs of photocopying/printing and postage or supplying the information in a special format, e.g. on floppy disk or CD-ROM. Where photocopying charges would be less than £2.00, these charges may be waived.
If the Council proposes to charge you for the supply of information requested under the Publication scheme or Freedom of Information legislation, you will be notified and required to pay the fee in advance.
Details of current fixed charges can be obtained from foi@bexley.gov.uk
