Overview and Scrutiny Committees maintain an overview of the work of the Council's decision-takers - in effect, they keep a watching brief on the members of Bexley's Cabinet. There are 7 Overview and Scrutiny Committees:

The duties and responsibilities of an Overview and Scrutiny Committee in the area of finance, corporate policies and services and in particular, oversight of the following:

  • Corporate Financial Planning
  • Corporate Governance
  • Information Communications and Technology
  • Public access strategies, information and e-government (including libraries)
  • Emergency Planning
  • The Local Strategic Partnership
  • Comprehensive Performance Assessment
  • Public Service Agreements
  • Corporate Contracts
  • Licensing (non-regulatory)
  • Corporate risk management and cross-cutting responsibility for fixed assets, including the receipt of quarterly reports, recommending appropriate action and submitting an annual report to the Council
