The Construction Team is responsible for the procurement process relating to construction projects. These construction projects may take the form of extensions and alterations to schools and public buildings or civil engineering works to Bexley's roads and open spaces.
The service includes:

Advising project managers, building consultants and client officers on Bexley's procurement processes, latest procurement initiatives and ensuring compliance with Contract Standing Orders.

Managing Bexley's Approved Lists of Contractors reviewing trades and members as necessary, ensuring continual compliance with agreed membership criteria, e.g. Public Liability Insurance cover; and recording the performance of firms carrying out works for the Borough.

Managing the tender process for construction based projects either by use of the approved lists or following an open tender procedure, advertising as necessary and administering the associated applicant assessment procedures. This involves close links with other council departments including Legal Services and Health & Safety.

Maintaining a central database of contracts and contractors including process and financial information, producing relevant reports and data as required and progress chasing where necessary.
