Public consultation

The Council published its 'Strategy 2014' proposals in November 2010, following lengthy discussions about the best way to respond to the reduction in public spending.

Local people were consulted about the proposals from 18 November 2010 to 18 February 2011 and the results reported to the Cabinet meeting on 28 February 2011.

Details of all the proposals were made available on the Council's website for three months. The issues were discussed in the last two issues of the Bexley Magazine and in dozens of articles in the local papers. Posters and banners were put up on boards and railings around the borough and hundreds of commuters were leafleted during the rush hour at local railway stations.

Local people were encouraged to participate in an online survey or submit their view to the Council in writing.
