Traffic engineering

This service deals with the major traffic and transport schemes in the borough.

Its made up of two teams, The Traffic Engineering team and the Engineering Services Division.

This team looks after the development of the following types of schemes:

Junction and route improvements to improve safety and reduce congestion,

Local safety schemes to reduce speeds and road casualties,

Public Realm schemes to tackle problems for all types of road users on key routes in the borough and improve the general street environment.

The more localised and general traffic schemes and queries across the borough are dealt with by the Traffic Management team, which includes the development of minor traffic schemes, changes to on-street parking controls (e.g. yellow lines or parking bays), pedestrian refuges, and requests for road signs and road markings. Use the Traffic Management link on the right for more information in relation to the work of this team.

Use the Traffic Projects link on the right for information relating to traffic schemes being developed and/or installed by the either the Traffic Engineering or Traffic Management teams.

Other traffic-related work is carried out across the borough by other Council teams and partner organisations. More details on this and contact details for these organisations can be found by using the Traffic Management link on the right.
