The Government is raising the age at which young people are required to participate in education or training.

From September 2013 those aged 16 (or those currently in Year 11 at school) will have to continue in education, training, or employment with training, until at least the end of the Academic Year in which they turn 17 years old. From September 2015 those aged 17 (or those currently in Year 10 at school) will have to participate until at least their 18th birthday.

You can find further information on the pages on the left hand side; this includes Frequently Asked Questions for Parents, Young People and Employers. If you are a school, college or training provider you can find materials to help you communicate the changes in Communicating RPA. You can also find further information about the changes on Department for Education. The Statutory Guidance that was published by the Department in March 2013 can also be found on Department for Education.
