Bexley drug project

To access any of our services you must be 18 years or over and be a permanent resident of the London Borough of Bexley. If you are unsure whether you qualify, or require any further information on any of our services, please use the contact information provided on the right of this page.

Who do we help?

The Bexley drug project provides a service to adults who are experiencing difficulties with their drug use.

Drug Project services include:

  • stimulant group;
  • drug rehabilitation requirement (DRR) group;
  • women's group;
  • cannabis group; and an
  • abstinence group.

Access into residential treatment may also be available via the drug project.

As part of a specified treatment programme we are able to offer a range of complementary therapies such as aromatherapy massage, reiki, reflexology, head massage and auricular acupuncture to complement the more structured group based work.

Alcohol issues?  If you are experiencing problems with alcohol you can contact BAGRA, who are a voluntary organisation based in Welling.  They will assess your individual needs and provide support to enable you to reduce and ultimately stop drinking altogether.

If you are drinking very heavily and feel you may be physically addicted, ie sweating, shaking, vomiting, when you wake you should contact your GP or Signpost in the first instance.  It is important that should you decide to stop drinking that this is medically supervised.  Signpost will assess your medical needs and can arrange for you to undertake a detoxification.

You can contact BAGRA or Signpost directly as follows:
  • BAGRA:  020 8304 6588
  • Signpost:  01322 357940

Contact details for other relevant organisations and support groups can be found in the right hand menu of this page.

Caring or Supporting a drug/alcohol user? Would you like some support yourself?  You can contact Edwin Mensah, the Service User and Carer Involvement Co-ordinator who is based in the Bexley Care Trust for more information on what is on offer in Bexley.  To speak to Edwin telephone 020 8298 6263 or alternatively you can e-mail him at edwin.mensah@bexley.nhs.uk.

Under 18? - If you are under 18 and would like support around substance misuse related issues or if you are a parent or carer of someone under 18 and are worried about their drug and/or alcohol use you can contact the Youth Engagement Service on 01322 356354 for confidential telephone support and advice.
