Community meals service

The London Borough of Bexley offers a new style community meals service.

If you live on your own and are finding it difficult to go shopping or cook your own meals, or if your carer is not able to cook you a meal in the daytime, you can get frozen meals delivered to your door.

Meals can be delivered weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on the supplier you choose.

The London Borough of Bexley has approved a list of suppliers to deliver meals to clients within the borough.

A booklet has been produced which lists key information about each supplier to assist clients in making a choice that best suits their taste, lifestyle and diet. You can download this step-by-step guide from the right hand menu.

What if I don't have a freezer?

Some of the meal suppliers can make arrangements for you to hire or purchase a freezer from them. More details about this are in the booklet mentioned above.

What if I am unable to heat the meals myself?

An assessment of your support needs will be carried out. We will ask you about the difficulties you have. If it is agreed that you are unable to heat the meals yourself, we can make arrangements for you to receive help in heating your meal. For more information contact Care Central using the details provided on the right.

How much will it cost?

You will have to pay for meals that are delivered to you. How much you pay depends on the meal supplier you choose. Each supplier will provide you with a brochure with all prices clearly shown, to allow you to make an informed choice.

How do I order my meals?

This depends on the meal supplier you choose, but normally you can order your meals over the telephone, by the internet, by post or by giving your order to the delivery driver.

Complaints and suggestions

If you have a complaint or suggestion about the service you are receiving from your meal supplier, please contact your meal supplier in the first instance. If you wish to progress a complaint, please see the Bexley Complaints Procedure.
