Council budgets and spending
The budget and Council Tax for the financial year ahead is agreed by the Council in March each year.
Members then regularly review actual performance against their financial plans.
The 3-year Budget Strategy 2014 has been updated and was approved by the Council on 6 March 2013. A copy of the latest document can be found below.
At the meeting on 6 March, the Council also considered the report on financial plans for the year ahead and agreed the level of Council Tax for 2013/14. Further information on the Council Tax is contained in the 'Your Council Tax 2013/14' leaflet below.
The Council also agrees a Medium Term Financial Strategy each year. The Strategy sets out the major financial issues facing the Council for the five years and forms the background for the Council to develop its future budgets. Like the Council's other plans, the Strategy is reviewed annually to ensure it takes account of new developments and changes in Government policy. The latest Medium Term Financial Strategy can be viewed below.
The Budget Book is published each year and provides more information on the key service budgets that make up the Council's overall budget and provide the supporting detail behind the setting of Bexley's Council Tax. It also details the costs of the schemes included in the Council's approved Capital Programme. The Budget Book for 2013/14 can be found below.
