Council budgets and spending
The budget and Council Tax for the financial year ahead is agreed by the Council in March each year.
At the meeting on 2 March, the Council also considered the report on financial plans for the year ahead and agreed the level of Council Tax for 2016/17. Further information on the Council Tax is contained in the 'Your Council Tax 2016/17' leaflet below.
The Council also agrees a Medium Term Financial Strategy each year. The Strategy ahead sets out the major financial issues facing the Council for the five years and forms the background for the Council to develop its future budgets. Like the Council's other plans, the Strategy is reviewed annually to ensure it takes account of new developments and changes in Government policy. The latest Medium Term Financial Strategy can be viewed below.
The Budget Book is published each year and provides more information on the key service budgets and provide the supporting detail behind the setting of Bexley's Council Tax. It also includes the Council's approved Capital Programme Schemes. The latest Budget Book can be found below.
Members regularly review actual performance against financial plans. Bexley operates a comprehensive resource monitoring process and summary reports are published at the end of each quarter during the year. These reports can be found with the reports for Overview and Scrutiny Committees.
