Many schools in Bexley have nursery classes, and children can start when they are three or four years old.
Nursery places for September 2015/January 2016
Offers of Nursery places for September 2015/January 2016 were made on 15 May 2015. If you applied online, you will receive an email during the evening of 15 May with the outcome of your application.
89% of parents have been offered their first preference nursery class, and 5% one of their other preferences. If you applied online, you can accept or decline the place online by logging on to e-Admissions. If you applied on a paper form, you should complete the acceptance slip enclosed with your offer letter and return it to the School Admissions Team. Please let us know by 2 June whether you wish to accept or refuse your offer.
When you accept the offer of a place, the school will tell you whether your child can start in September 2015 or January 2016, and which session has been allocated.
All children not offered their first preference nursery class have been added to the waiting lists for higher preferences.
Some parents could not be offered any of their preferred nursery classes because there were more applicants than places. There are still a number of unfilled places in various schools - please contact the School Admissions Team if you would like to know which schools these are, and to request your child's name to be added to waiting lists.
Offers will be made from waiting lists from 9 June onwards, when all parents have had time to accept and decline offers, and to request places on waiting lists. If you applied after the closing date, your child's name will be added to the waiting lists for your preferred schools at this time.
The Admission to Nursery Classes booklet is available as a PDF under related downloads, or collect a paper copy from primary schools or Council offices.
Information is available from Bexley's Family Information Service (email@example.com) regarding other nursery classes, day nurseries and playgroups run by voluntary and private organisations.
Attendance at a school nursery class does not give priority for admission to Reception when your child reaches school age. If your child has not been offered a place in a nursery class, it will not affect your application for a Reception place for September 2016, providing you apply on time.
Nursery places in 2014/15
If your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011, they can attend a nursery class now. The 2014 application form is available under related downloads. You must send evidence of your address and your child's date of birth with the application.
Parents and carers are entitled to 15 hours free early years education for 38 weeks each year from the term following a child's third birthday until the child reaches compulsory school age. Many schools have adjusted the times of their nursery sessions so that they can offer the full 15 hours each week. Others have introduced new arrangements that offer more flexibility for parents. The 'Admission to Nursery Classes' booklet gives you information about the sessions that each school is offering and tells you how places in nursery classes are allocated.
Nursery classes are very popular and it may not be possible to offer places to all children who apply.
Attendance at a school nursery class does not give priority for admission to the Reception class at the same school when your child reaches school age. If your child is not offered a place in a nursery class, it will not affect your application for a Reception place for September.
