Nursery places for September 2014/January 2015
Children born between 1 September 2010 and 28 February 2011 will be able to start in a nursery class in September 2014. Children born between 1 March 2011 and 31 August 2011 will be able to start in January 2015. Many schools admit all children in September.
You will be able to apply between 16 January 2014 and 4 April 2014. The link to the online application site and the 'Admission to Nursery Classes 2014' booklet will be on this page by 16 January 2014.
If your child is old enough to start nursery now, you can apply for a place by completing a paper application form available from the School Admissions Team on 020 8303 7777. The School Admissions Team can tell you which nursery classes still have spaces.
Parents and carers are entitled to 15 hours free early years education for 38 weeks each year from the term following a child's third birthday until the child reaches compulsory school age. Many schools have adjusted the times of their nursery sessions so that they can offer the full 15 hours each week. Others have introduced new arrangements that offer more flexibility for parents. The 'Admission to Nursery Classes' booklet gives you information about the sessions that each school is offering and tells you how places in nursery classes are allocated.
Nursery classes are very popular and it may not be able to offer places to all children who apply. A separate leaflet is available from Bexley's Family Information Service (see right hand menu for contact details) listing nursery classes, day nurseries and playgroups run by voluntary and private organisations.
Attendance at a school nursery class does not give priority for admission to the Reception class at the same school when your child reaches school age. If your child is not offered a place in a nursery class, it will not affect your application for a Reception place for September.
