Many schools in Bexley have nursery classes, and children can start when they are three or four years old.
Nursery places for September 2015/January 2016
Children born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012 can start in a nursery class in 2015/16. You can apply between 16 January 2015 and 6 April 2015. The information booklet for parents about nursery classes and how to apply is available as a PDF under related downloads.
Please apply online using e-Admissions. You must provide evidence of your home address and your child's date of birth either by uploading copies online or by sending paper copies to the School Admissions Team.
You can also collect paper copies of the application form and information booklet from primary schools that have nursery classes or the Civic Offices, Bexleyheath, or local libraries.
You must apply direct to the school for some nursery classes. These are: Bishop Ridley CE Primary School, Haberdashers' Aske's Crayford Academy, Holy Trinity Lamorbey CE Primary School, Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School (morning sessions) and St Fidelis Catholic Primary School.
Nursery places for September 2014/January 2015
If your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011, they can attend a nursery class now. Paper forms are available from primary schools with nursery classes or from the School Admissions Team. You must send evidence of your address and your child's date of birth with all applications.
Parents and carers are entitled to 15 hours free early years education for 38 weeks each year from the term following a child's third birthday until the child reaches compulsory school age. Many schools have adjusted the times of their nursery sessions so that they can offer the full 15 hours each week. Others have introduced new arrangements that offer more flexibility for parents. The 'Admission to Nursery Classes' booklet gives you information about the sessions that each school is offering and tells you how places in nursery classes are allocated.
Nursery classes are very popular and it may not be possible to offer places to all children who apply.
Attendance at a school nursery class does not give priority for admission to the Reception class at the same school when your child reaches school age. If your child is not offered a place in a nursery class, it will not affect your application for a Reception place for September.
