Many schools in Bexley have nursery classes, and children can start when they are three or four years old.
Nursery places for September 2015/January 2016
Children born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012 can start in a nursery class in 2015/16. The closing date for on time applications has now passed but you can still make a late application. The Admission to Nursery Classes in Bexley Schools booklet for parents and the 2015 application form are available as PDFs under related downloads. You can also collect the application form and the information booklet from primary schools that have nursery classes or the Civic Offices, Bexleyheath, or local libraries.
Application forms should be sent to the School Admissions Team with evidence of your home address and your child's date of birth.
Offers of nursery class places will be made to on time applicants on Friday 15 May. If you applied online, you will receive an email in the evening. If you applied on a paper form, you will receive a letter sent by first class post on 15 May.
You must apply direct to the school for some nursery classes. These are: Bishop Ridley CE Primary School, Haberdashers' Aske's Crayford Academy, Holy Trinity Lamorbey CE Primary School, Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School (morning sessions) and St Fidelis Catholic Primary School.
Nursery places in 2014/15
If your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011, they can attend a nursery class now. The 2014 application form is in related downloads. You must send evidence of your address and your child's date of birth with the application.
Parents and carers are entitled to 15 hours free early years education for 38 weeks each year from the term following a child's third birthday until the child reaches compulsory school age. Many schools have adjusted the times of their nursery sessions so that they can offer the full 15 hours each week. Others have introduced new arrangements that offer more flexibility for parents. The 'Admission to Nursery Classes' booklet gives you information about the sessions that each school is offering and tells you how places in nursery classes are allocated.
Nursery classes are very popular and it may not be possible to offer places to all children who apply.
Attendance at a school nursery class does not give priority for admission to the Reception class at the same school when your child reaches school age. If your child is not offered a place in a nursery class, it will not affect your application for a Reception place for September.
