Warning from Trading Standards - bogus website

Bexley Trading Standards Team is aware of a bogus website that has been advertising low-priced electrical equipment and accessories.

Although www.buygreendot.com claimed to be based in Bourne Road Crayford, the address was false and the telephone number given was in fact a local private residence. The appropriate authorities have been alerted and the site is no longer accessible.

Personal information was acquired during the registration process but so far we are aware of only one instance where a small sum of money (less than the value of the goods in question) has been taken from the customer's account.

If you have given your details on this website it is possible that your account(s) may be subject to future unauthorised withdrawals..

You should therefore notify your bank and card issuer as soon as possible to inform them that you suspect that you may have been a victim of identity theft and to seek their advice. Further information regarding identity theft is available on the right hand link.

You can also report the matter to our partners at Consumer Direct. - the government telephone and online advice service is available on the right hand link or by telephoning 08454 04 05 06. The information gathered by Consumer Direct will be treated in confidence but will help with subsequent investigations by Trading Standards and other enforcement agencies.
