Choosing a sports club for your children
A well run club will welcome questions about their activities and policies.
They will know they have a responsibility to give this kind of information to anyone who leaves a child in their care. The club safety check for parents document, available as a PDF under related downloads, outlines key points to check when choosing a sports club for your child.
What is Clubmark accreditation?
Clubmark is a nationally recognised standard designed especially for sports clubs. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
- The Playing Programme - the club must ensure coaching and competition is right for the age and ability of participants, and help children reach their potential
- Duty of Care and Child Protection - the club must have a child protection policy and a Child Welfare Officer. Children's welfare must be embedded in all club activities
