Annual Borough Carol Service at St John's Church, Sidcup - 13 December 2009

The Mayor joined a packed congregation at this year's annual Borough Carol Service, which was once again held at St John's Church, Sidcup, on Sunday 13 December 2009.

The service is organised very year by the Churches Together in Sidcup and the London Borough of Bexley. We were lucky to welcome two wonderful schools from the borough to take part in the service – a choir from Old Bexley CE Primary School, which sang `Bright Star' and another choir from Birkbeck Primary School which sang 'Every Christmas'.

The Bexley Band entertained with several pieces specially prepared for the day and they accompanied the singing of the carols.

As is now a wonderful tradition, a thought provoking sketch was performed by CRiBS (Christian Resources in Bexley Schools). The children and the young at heart in the audience enjoyed listening to the carols. It truly was enchanting.

The congregation donated £407.16 from the collection to the Mayor's Charity Appeal, Demelza Hospice Care for Children, which is his chosen charity for 2009/10.
