TalkBack Bexley Residents' Panel |
TalkBack Bexley is a panel of over 2,000 residents who have agreed to be consulted, by postal survey, about Council services and other issues affecting people living in Bexley. Each survey asks the views of a representative sample of these residents, reflecting the Borough as a whole (in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and where in the Borough they live). Anyone who lives in the Borough and is over 18 years old can join for up to three years. |

Teacher Placements (PDPs) |
Bexley Education Business Partnership organises both one and five day business placements for teachers. The aim of Professional Development Placements is to provide practical experience of business for teachers and other adults who are involved in the education of young people. We are more than happy to tailor placements to individual teachers' needs. |

Enforcement of town planning legislation is undertaken by a dedicated team, Development Control, within the Development and Public Protection Department.
You can contact the Planning and Regeneration Department for information about the Council's plans/proposals for developing town centres across the borough. |

Trading Standards |
We enforce Trading Standards; Fair Trading and Consumer Protection Legislation. This includes legal controls relating to Weights and Measures; Prices; Safety of Goods; Consumer Credit; Misleading Advertising; False Description of Goods and Services and Overloaded Goods vehicles.

Training for the unemployed |
There is a wide range of courses that are run at the Thamesmead Adult Education Centre - for example: IT, Legal and Medical, Warehousing, Fork Lift, Sage, etc. In addition to these courses, there are further courses that are run for women returnees and under-represented groups, plus work experience programmes. |

Tree preservation |
Some trees are protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and should not be damaged and the Council's permission needs to be given before a protected tree is pruned or cut down. Trees in conservation areas are also protected by planning regulations, for example those growing in a conservation area or protected by means of a condition attached to a planning consent. |

The Council maintains trees in parks and on highways and can deal with trees which are overgrown and present a danger to pedestrians or other road users.

Truancy |
The Council works closely with schools and local police to tackle truancy and carries out a number of truancy 'sweeps' each year where children found on the streets are taken back to school. If you suspect a child/group of children is/are regularly truanting you can report this to the Council.
Information and advice is also available for parents who are concerned about a truanting child. |
