New Council Meets for the First Time

The Councillors elected by Bexley voters on 4 May held their first formal meeting on Wednesday night (24 May) and agreed a series of appointments to key positions.

Cllr Ian Clement was elected as the new Leader of the Council and Cllr Teresa O'Neill as Deputy Leader.

Cllr Brian Beckwith was elected as the borough's new Mayor and Cllr Colin Tandy as Deputy Mayor.

The Council's new Cabinet comprises:

• Council Leader - Cllr Ian Clement
• Deputy Leader & Cabinet member for Children's Services - Cllr Teresa O'Neill
• Cabinet Member for Schools, Adult Education & Youth Services - Cllr Simon Windle
• Cabinet Member for Community Affairs - Cllr Katie Perrior
• Cabinet Member for Finance & Corporate Services - Cllr Colin Campbell
• Cabinet Member for the Environment - Cllr Gareth Bacon
• Cabinet Member for Transport - Cllr Peter Craske
• Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Housing - Cllr John Waters
• Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts & Tourism - Cllr Peter Catterall
• Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care - Cllr Sharon Massey
