Bridge and Road Repairs on Bourne Road Flyover
Bridge and road repairs will start on the Bourne Road flyover on Monday 7 August. The work will last for up to six weeks, subject to weather conditions.
Bourne Road flyover, which crosses the A2 at the Black Prince Interchange, was subject to extensive parapet strengthening works last year. Following these works, Transport for London, which owns the bridge, has programmed further bridge maintenance works to be carried out during the summer holidays this year. The Council has arranged to resurface the road between the two roundabouts north and south of the A2 at the same time, reducing the overall disturbance.
Traffic management arrangements for these works will be carried out with contra-flow arrangements over the bridge. Pedestrians will be able to cross the road at each end of the works, near the roundabouts.
Disruption to traffic will be kept to a minimum, but it is inevitable that there will be some traffic delays. The contractors, Messrs T E Beach Ltd (for the resurfacing) and Fitzpatrick's (for the bridge deck waterproofing and movement joints), will have offices and stores located within the works area and will, on the Council's behalf, endeavour to minimise any inconvenience and general disturbance.
