Ademide's Art Wins Safari Outing
TALENTED Belvedere pupil Ademide Adebiyi is the toast of her classmates after
her art skills were recognised in a competition open to hundreds of youngsters.
The eight year old, a pupil at Bedonwell Junior School, was awarded third
prize in the Envirotastic! competition organised by Firbank Chiltern, the waste
management and recycling firm, by Woburn Safari Park, and supported in Bexley
by SWAC, the School's Waste Action Club.
Ten youngsters from a number of local council areas enjoyed a family day out
at the safari park and a slap-up lunch, before the top three entrants were announced.
Each had come up with a design showing why the environment and recycling was
important to them.
Ademide, who received book tokens for her school, said later: "I had
a great day and loved seeing all of the animals - it was a lot of fun!"
Firbank Chiltern chairman, Robert Firbank, said: "The quality of the
entries was really good. It was such a hard task to pick the finalists. The designs
were bright and colourful and above all showed that the younger generation have
a grasp of why it is vital to look after our environment."
Cheryl Williams, Woburn Safari Park's marketing manager, added: "Envirotastic!
has been a big success. We are all thrilled that we received so many wonderful
and clever entries. It shows that the importance of recycling and the environment
is high on the agenda for today's youngsters."
