Unity within Diversity conference success

Bexley Council for Racial Equality recently held a groundbreaking conference for the young people of Bexley.

The 'Unity within Diversity' conference invited young people to take part in a range of workshops designed to get them talking about the issue of racism in the borough. The workshop themes included, 'Gang Culture', 'Combating Racism in an Educational Setting' and 'Anti-Social Behaviour'. Find out more about the conference.

L&Q Housing Trust has donated £4,000 to pay for new bikes for two of Bexley's Safer Neighbourhoods teams.

27 April - Bexley Rotarians Score a Success with Local Youngsters

The Rotary Club of Bexley has celebrated its 75th anniversary by donating 75 footballs to Bexley's Ball Court League.

26 April - Council Steps up its Fight Over River Crossings

Bexley Councillors have overwhelmingly backed a call for the re-opening of the public inquiry into the Thames Gateway Bridge and condemned Transport for London's decision to scrap the tidal flow system at the Blackwall Tunnel.

26 April - On Course for a Bumper Danson Festival

The countdown is well advanced for this July's Danson Festival, the spectacular free weekend of fun and frolic in a parkland setting. This year's bumper event is being organised by Bexley Council in conjunction with an award-winning outdoor event production and management company, Richmond Event Management (REM).

23 April - Sikhs Praised for Recycling Record

The greenest Gurdwara in the country - Guru Nanak Darbar in Lower Road, Belvedere - was visited on Sunday, 15 April, by Bexley's Cabinet member for Environment, Cllr Gareth Bacon, and members of the borough's recycling team.

23 April - Bexley Environmental Challenge 2007

Schools, youth clubs, community organisations and local businesses are reminded that the closing date for the Bexley Environmental Challenge is 30 April.

20 April - Albany Park Youth Pub Zone Is Here To Stay

The popular Youth Pub Zone held at the Albany Public House, Albany Park, Sidcup has reached the end of its trial period and due to its overwhelming success is set to become a permanent meeting place for young people.

19 April - Countdown To Smokefree Bexley

The clock is ticking steadily towards a smokefree Bexley. The Health Act 2006 comes into force throughout England on July 1, giving people protection from the harmful impact of second-hand smoke.

19 April - Transport For London Engineers Gridlock For London

Bexley Council has condemned the sudden decision by Transport for London to axe the 'tidal flow' system at the Blackwall Tunnel - the system whereby in the morning rush hour northbound traffic is able to use a southbound tunnel to ease congestion.

A Sidcup shop, Village Food and Wine in Station Road, has surrendered its alcohol licence after a Bexley Council investigation into the continuing sale of alcohol to under-age drinkers.

16 April - 85% Say 'Yes' to Improved Pedestrian Facilities on Sidcup Hill

More than 270 residents of Sidcup Hill and nearby roads voted on an improvement scheme along Sidcup Hill, with 85% giving an overwhelming 'thumbs up' to measures to tackle the two problems of lack of pedestrian crossing facilities and a higher than average road collision rate.

Bexley's libraries are updating the software which manages the library computer system. On Thursday, 12 April, the library catalogue, self-service and e-library services will not be available either on line or in libraries.
