Cash Boost for Autistic Centre
A centre for providing advice and information to adults on the autistic spectrum
or their carers was given a major cash injection with a £500 donation from
Crayford Rotary Club - that should help secure its future for at least another
two years.
Bexley Council's Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, Councillor Sharon Massey, was on hand recently to accept the cheque on behalf of the centre.
She said: "I am so very grateful to Crayford Rotary. Their generous donation
secures the future of this valuable service for at least another two to three
years. The drop in service is supported by many voluntary organisations and this
donation has been such a boost for morale."
The Drop-in information and support service is available once a month at the
Betty Tod Centre, 35 Lesney Park Road, Erith, on the third Monday of each month
between 10am and noon. The next drop in session is on 18 June 2007.
The centre, was launched earlier this year in March, when it was opened by
the former Mayor of Bexley, Cllr
Brian Beckwith.
The organisations backing the project include: ACCD (Action Committee for
Children with Disabilities); BASIC (Bexley Autism Support and Information Centre);
