Have Your Say on Erith's Future and some fun, too

There is still time to have your say on Erith's Future - at the Erith Riverside Festival on Sunday 3 June. The festival usually attracts about 4,000 visitors and many different organisations will have stalls and attractions at this colourful, fun-packed annual event.

The Erith Area Action Plan, Issues and Options Paper, will be available to the public throughout the day. The paper was published for consultation in January and Bexley Council has already received a number of interesting responses from local people and is keen to hear from many more.

The plan will form part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) that will eventually replace the Unitary Development Plan as the Council's key planning policy document, under the Government's new system.

The Action Plan will set a planning framework for an area where significant change or conservation is required. This includes a large stretch of the the River Thames, Erith town centre, West Street, Erith Sports Centre, Lesney Park Conservation Area, Erith Quarry and the industrial estates along Manor Road.

It will have more specific polices for this area, cover up to 10 - 15 years and will identify potential development sites. Views expressed by residents and other interested parties will have a major influence on the final plan.

Summary leaflets and pre-paid reply questionnaires will be available at the festival's Tour de France and Christ Church stands, Erith Playhouse and Erith Boathouse. They are also available at Erith Library in Walnut Tree Road and the Youth and Family Centre in West Street and other stalls at the festival.
