31 January - A Healthy First for Bexley Schools

It's official - the London Borough of Bexley is the first local authority in the country to have all of its schools achieve the national Healthy Schools status.

29 January - Safe Town Award for Bexleyheath

Bexley Town Safe has been awarded the Safer Business Award (SBA) by Action Against Business Crime (AABC).

29 January - Free February Half Term Cycling Courses

Bexley's youngsters can sign-up for free cyclist training courses, which will run throughout the February half-term.

29 January - Children Get the Vote

Bexley school children were given the chance to vote this week, using interactive 'voting pads', on what new books and activities they would like to see in their local library.

28 January - Councillors Launch Review of Registrar's Service

A group of Bexley Councillors started work last week on a review of the borough's Registrar's Service.

25 January - Time Running Out for Comments on Howbury Planning Brief

There are only a few weeks left for comments on plans for the redevelopment of the Howbury site in Slade Green.

25 January - Have Your Say on Bexley's Social & Community Services Change Programme

If you would like to hear first hand about proposals to change the way the London Borough of Bexley delivers its social & community services, there will be a chance to discuss them with Cllr Sharon Massey, the Council's Cabinet member for Health and Adult Social Care, on Tuesday 12 February.

25 January - The Vision for Normandy Primary School

Local residents, parents and carers from Colyers and Normandy Schools are invited to Normandy Primary School to look at proposals for new school buildings on 1 February at 7pm.

25 January - Raising Awareness of Private Fostering

The London Borough of Bexley is backing an awareness campaign to help safeguard vulnerable children in private fostering arrangements.

23 January - Sainsbury's Alcohol Licence Suspended

After being caught selling alcohol to under-aged children on several occasions, the Sainsbury Local, in Blackfen Road, Sidcup, has had its licence to sell alcohol suspended. It is believed to be the first time nationally that a Sainsbury store has faced such a suspension.

21 January - Increased Quality and Choice Key to Meal Changes

Offering greater quality and choice is the main aim of proposed changes to Bexley's meals on wheels service, says Cllr Sharon Massey, the Councils Cabinet member for Adult Social Care & Health.

21 January - A Positive Step Forward for the Crayford Academy Project

The London Borough of Bexley received exciting news last week when ministerial approval was given for the Crayford Academy project to move on to the next stage.

16 January - Above Average Bexley Celebrates Exam Results

The latest set of league tables for Key Stage Four pupils show that Bexley students are continuing to produce results above the national average.

16 January - Queen Mary's on Agenda for NHS Services Scrutiny Sub Group

Members of the public are invited to attend the next meeting of the London Borough of Bexley's NHS Services Scrutiny Sub Group to hear about planned changes to local NHS services.

15 January - Danson Park Environmental Projects Receive Recognition

Repair and improvement work carried out at Danson Park by offenders on Unpaid Work with London Probation, received recognition at the recent Bexley Environmental Challenge 2007 award presentations.

11 January - Arsonists Attack Playground Toy Train

Mindless vandals caused thousands of pounds worth of damage when they set ablaze a toy train in a Bexleyheath playground over the festive season.

9 January - Bexley Appoints New Chief Executive

Will Tuckley has been appointed as Chief Executive of the London Borough of Bexley following an extensive recruitment and selection process. Mr Tuckley, 48, beat a strong field to secure the post, which is the first external appointment of a Chief Executive to the London Borough of Bexley for more than 20 years.

9 January - Meals on Wheels

Proposals for major changes to the meals on wheels service provided by Bexley will be discussed by the Council's Cabinet on 5 February.

9 January - Tree Springs Life into Bostall Library

Local children were on hand to help out with a tree planting ceremony in the grounds of Bostall Library last Friday (4 January ). The tree, a Rowan, was one of four donated by the North West Kent Countryside Partnership to Bexley Library Service.

4 January - Barnehurst Infant School Ofsted Success

Barnehurst Infant School teachers and pupils had an extra Christmas present this year when Ofsted inspectors described their school as 'good' with 'outstanding features'.
