Have Your Say On Bexley's Historic Areas
The London Borough of Bexley is seeking the views of residents, amenity and
community groups on seven of the Borough's Conservation Areas.
The areas covered by the consultation are -
- Star Hill, Crayford
- High Beeches, North Cray
- Willersley Avenue and Braundton Avenue, Sidcup
- Christ Church, Sidcup
- Halfway Street, Sidcup
- Oak Road, Slade Green
- Woolwich Road, Upper Belvedere
Conservation Areas are places whose character and appearance should be preserved
and enhanced because of their architectural or historic interest.
The Council is consulting local people on the documentation that supports
each of the seven Conservation Areas. It would particularly like views on the
management plan, its proposals for preserving and enhancing the character and
appearance of the Conservation Area in the future.
Bexley Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Housing Cllr
John Waters said: "We
hope residents of these seven Conservation Areas across the Borough will take
the time to look carefully at the Council's ideas for the preservation of these
special places and let us have their views."
The closing date for comments and suggestions is Monday 14 April. More information
is available on the Council's website at www.bexley.gov.uk/service/consultations/conservationareas_phase2/index.html
Bexley has a total of 23 Conservation Areas, each of which will be supported
by an area appraisal and a management plan.
In 2007, the Council consulted on its first four Conservation Areas: Brook
Street, Northumberland Heath; Erith Road, Belvedere; Red House Lane, Bexleyheath;
and Longlands Road, Sidcup. It will soon be publishing the final versions of
the area appraisals and management plans for these Areas.
The Council will be reviewing the remaining twelve Conservation Areas in the
next twelve months.
