Back in
the 1940s
the Red
Barn Public

Barnehurst
became
known as
the home
of the
Jazz revival
in England,
hosting
regular
jazz evenings
and it
is hoped
that the
Bexleyheath
Jazz Festival
will raise
its profile
locally
once more.
To make
this happen
The Ivory
Lounge,
The King’s
Arms and
the Marriott
Hotel will
be carrying
on the
tradition
by having
live jazz
acts playing
throughout
the afternoon
and evening.
All of
the jazz
festival
events
are free
with no
pre-booking
required.
The much
travelled
Buster
Birch with
his piano
trio will
be at the
Ivory Lounge.
Buster
has played
in over
30 countries
with some
of the
greats,
and has
a broad
musical
base that
has seen
him play
in the
Philharmonic
Orchestras
and appeared
in countless
West End
stage productions.
The Jive
Aces, a
dynamic
band who
have performed
on hundreds
of TV and
radio shows
in over
25 countries,
will also
be performing
at the
Ivory Lounge
during
the afternoon
and then
in the
Marriott
Hotel in
the evening.
The Dierdrie
Davenport
Group,
with Dierdrie
herself
famed for
her role
in the
1980s on
Rockschool
and representing
Great Britain
in the
European
Jazz Festival,
will be
performing
in the
Kings Arms.
Local
talent
will also
be given
an opportunity
to shine
in their
home town.
Acts include
a talented
local soloist
Katie Martin
from Chislehurst
and Sidcup
Grammar
School,
who was
a finalist
in the
Bexley
Young Musician
of the
Year competition,

popular
Little
