Members of Bexley Youth Council visit the Houses of Parliament

Members of Bexley Youth Council paid a visit to the Houses of Parliament last week (24 June) to get a flavour of national democracy in action.

The 13 young people were guests of Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett, who met up with the young people and gave them an insight into his role as Member of Parliament and how he represents local people in national politics.

They then got the chance to quiz the MP, highlighting the issues they know are important to young people in Bexley and the projects that they are currently working on.

During the day the young councillors were given a tour of the historic buildings and a lesson on the history of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Youth Council member, Omolola Olukogbon, aged 15 said "The visit was fun. It was the best history lesson EVER! David Evennett was welcoming and down to earth. The experience was a successful and unforgettable one."
