Twenty UK Youth Parliament representatives from across London were invited
to attend a reception at City Hall last month (24 June).
Terry White, Bexley’s UK Youth Parliament Deputy Member, was one of
the 20 attendees. The enthralled group of budding politicians were able to meet
with representatives from various London organisations including other local
authorities.
The event, which took place in London’s Living Room at City Hall, gave
the young people an excellent opportunity to familiarise themselves with the
world of politics, and Terry White had the chance to meet Jennette Arnold, who
is the Chair of the London Assembly.
They also talked to an array of councillors from across London who gave the
group a good sense of the nature of democracy and national politics.
Terry found the evening inspiring: “It was an awesome night out and
by far the greatest thing I have done in my life so far. This is a bonus on top
of my election and I got the opportunity to talk politics with politicians! It
really was a night to remember.”
