The London Borough of Bexley's Community Archivist, Oliver Wooller, will lead a guided walk through the ancient town of Crayford on 22 July.

Crayford is the reputed location of a Roman settlement called Noviomagus and scene of an epic battle between Britons and Saxons that was to enter Arthurian legend.

The walk will take in places of historical interest including the Parish Church of St Paulinus and the old High Street as well as the sites of the fair established by Richard II in 1396 and the Princess Theatre opened by Princess Helena in 1916. The walk is accompanied by an attractive guide book 'Cavalcade Through Crayford'.

The walk begins at 7.15pm outside Crayford Town Hall and should last approximately two hours.

Tickets are £3 each and can be purchased in advance from Bexley Local Studies and Archive Centre, Central Library, Townley Road, Bexleyheath.
