New Exercise Class at West Street Children's Centre

Mums get ready to take part in the new exercise class
|
A new exercise class for mums and mums-to-be has taken the West Street Children's
Centre by storm!
'Pushy Mothers' is an exercise system designed by pregnancy and post natal
fitness professionals to offer safe and effective exercise for new mums and mums-to-be.
The six week session started at the Children's Centre in Erith in May. Its
aim was to promote fitness in a positive and fun way and to encourage local mums
to make friends and to support one another. It was also a good opportunity for
mums to explore their local recreational facilities.
The 'Pushy Mums' have been meeting up at the Children's Centre on Tuesday
mornings. From there they are accompanied by the Centre's fitness coach Michelle
as they set off to Erith Park for an hour long buggy work out that includes warming
up exercises, power walking, cardio-vascular workouts and cooling down exercises.
Before taking part each mum has to complete a health questionnaire. They are
instructed on suitable clothing and footwear for the activity. Every mum receives
a back pack, a bottle of water and a small teddy for the baby. The six week session
costs £5.
The sessions have proved to be fun and a great chance for mums to make friends
locally and enjoy a healthy work out. While the babies get the chance to have
plenty of fresh air and to see their mums healthy, happy and enjoying exercise.
Another six week session is planned and the dates are to be confirmed. To
