Better Roads Ahead for Sidcup

The London Borough of Bexley has arranged to carry out essential road maintenance on the busy A222, Elm Road and Chislehurst Road in Sidcup. The works are being coordinated with the Sidcup Traffic Management scheme. They will take place during the night so as to cause minimal disruption to the area. Once complete, the new road surface should result in some reduction in traffic noise for residents living nearby.

The improvements, to replace the worn out carriageway, will be carried out between 7pm and 2am each night by the Council's term contractor, FM Conway Ltd. They are due to start in Elm Road on the night of Monday 11 August and in Chislehurst Road on the night of Monday 18 August.

Road closures and diversions will be put in place each evening and will be removed again at the end of the night so that the road network will function as normal when works are not taking place.

Access to and from Queen Mary's Hospital will always be available via the A20 and emergency access will be permitted through the works. Bus services will be maintained, but will be affected by diversions.

As part of the Council's works policy, every effort will be made to keep noise to a minimum. The use of pneumatic tools will be forbidden after 11pm.

Letters will be sent to residents and businesses in the local area to explain the works being carried out and the planned diversion routes.
