Townley Girls Hit the Catwalk

Townley students show off their designs
|
Year 10 students at Townley Grammar School for Girls formed their own fashion
houses last month as part of a special Fashion Business Enterprise project.
Organised by Bexley Education Business Partnership, the event introduced the
girls to the world of fashion. During the day the girls received tips from professionals
including presentations from costume makers, designers and fashion staff from
John Lewis, Bluewater.
Working in teams, the year 10 students were asked to set up their own fashion
house, devise a new innovative name, sketch their ideas and then put together
a marketing plan. The girls then designed and put together their own catwalk
outfits using materials and equipment supplied by the Salvation Army's Trading
Department, John Lewis, Bluewater and the Education Business Partnership.
The day ended with an exciting fashion show when models hit the catwalk to
present their designs to the audience. Prizes were awarded for Best Individual
Sketched Design - won by Jane Adojutelegan, Best Fashion House Design - won by
Vivid, and Best Fashion House Marketing Plan - won by Boom.
The event was sponsored by the Salvation Army's Trading Department, John Lewis,
Bluewater, Emmeline 4 Re, Mel Larkin and Bexley Education Business Partnership.
