Ten Bexley school students were sent around in circles earlier last month
when they were treated to a trip on the London Eye, courtesy of KPMG Accountants
and Business Advisors and the London of Borough of Bexley's Education Business
Partnership.
The students from four schools in the Borough were the winners of a special
challenge set to Year 8 students who attended the London Borough of Bexley's
Raising Aspirations Conference earlier this year.
Rob Boucherat of KPMG Accountants and Business Advisors asked students at
the conference to set themselves a challenge. The students were then asked to
complete their own challenge and write to KPMG explaining how they did it.
The winning challenges included the wish to become a singer, to move up a
level in science, to be picked to represent Bexley in the London Youth Games
in ladies rugby, and to self teach touch typing.
The aim of the annual 'Raising Aspirations’ Conference, organised by
Bexley Education Business Partnership, is to inspire young people to challenge
themselves daily and encourage them to deal with obstacles they could face. Students
were put into groups from different schools to work on team building challenges
that entailed problem solving activities.
