Residents Invited to Question Time
Bexley Community Safety Partnership (BCSP) is inviting residents to attend
the latest in a series of 'Question Time' type sessions in their local area.
It is an opportunity for residents to raise and discuss any concerns such
as crime or anti social behaviour in their area, with representatives from
the Metropolitan Police Service, the London Borough of Bexley, the London Fire
Brigade, the National Probation Service, Bexley Care Trust, the Bexley Community
Policing Engagement Group and the Greater London Authority.
The BCSP arranged a series of five meetings - one in each area (or 'cluster'
as they are known) of the Borough. This followed on from the well-attended
public meeting held in Sidcup, in the wake of the tragic death of Robert Knox
in June, when more than 250 residents turned out to discuss what could be done
to improve their local neighbourhood.
So far two of the five cluster meetings have taken place in the borough and
the organisers have been pleased with the response.
Cllr Katie Perrior,
Cabinet member for Community Affairs said: "We have
already held meetings in Erith and Bexleyheath and they worked really well.
They have proved very useful and informative, and I am grateful for the residents
who came to join in. The panel has been able to hear directly about residents'
concerns, and we have been able to listen and respond accordingly.
"The more people that attend, the more accurate a picture we gain. It
is right that residents get to question councillors and police officers and
we encourage more to attend the forthcoming meetings over the next few weeks".
The remaining three cluster meetings will take place over the next few weeks.
The Welling cluster meeting is being held on 24 September from 7pm to 9pm at
Welling Secondary School, Elsa Road Welling. The Thamesmead cluster meeting
is on 8 October from 7pm to 9pm in the Thames Innovation Centre, 2 Veridion
Way, Thamesmead. The Sidcup cluster meeting is on Wednesday 15 October from
7.30pm to 9.30pm in Cleeve Park School Hall, Bexley Lane, Sidcup.
