The Partnership For Bexley
About Us
The Partnership for Bexley is committed to making Bexley the borough of choice - a place where people choose to live, learn, work and enjoy life and where a variety of choices exist to match a diversity of needs.
The Partnership will seek to improve quality of life and build strong, sustainable and cohesive communities.
Working together we will make the best use of our resources to promote individual well-being and development, a safe, secure and attractive environment; and economic opportunity and prosperity for all our residents.
The Partnership for Bexley Vision
Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) are a national initiative, intended to
create, strengthen and empower local communities. LSPs bring together at a
local level the different parts of the public sector, as well as the private,
business, community and voluntary sectors, so that different initiatives and
services support each other and work together.
The Partnership for Bexley is the borough’s local strategic partnership,
launched in July 2002.
In 2006, a review of the Partnership for Bexley was undertaken to make it
fit-for-purpose to deliver the Local Area Agreement. This exercise has culminated
in a revision of the Partnership’s Constitution, emphasising joint working
on key priorities, accountability for the delivery of performance targets and
effective leadership.
Following the review, the Partnership for Bexley was restructured to contain
a thematically focused core group. All the major stakeholders are represented
and current membership stands at 21 organisations in the core group. The chart below depicts the bodies that make up the Partnership for Bexley, with the delivery
arms responsible for the four LAA blocks clearly defined.
The Partnership has a strong tradition of joint working where appropriate;
sharing resources and forming smaller working groups to deliver outcomes in
key areas. This is evidenced by the collaborative work done on the Joint Strategic
Needs Assessments, the Local Development Framework and the Sustainable Community
Strategy.
The Core Group is chaired by the Leader of the Council, while the Chief Executive
of the Bexley Voluntary Service Council serves as the Deputy Chair.
