Information for Partnerships
Bexley Voluntary Sector Compact
The Bexley Voluntary Sector Compact is an agreement initially between Bexley Council,
Bexley Care Trust and the voluntary and community organisations in membership of the
Bexley Voluntary Forum. In setting out a series of guiding principles by which all
parties agree to abide, it aims to strengthen the relationship between the different
groups for mutual advantage and to benefit the community.
Emerging Best Practice
A number of academic institutions have begun to look at emerging best practice
in the operation of LSPs. This research, based on case studies in a range of local
authorities, gives practical examples of new and innovative ways of working. A number
of the initiatives relate to local authorities in receipt of Neighbourhood Renewal
Funding whilst others are at an early stage of development and so their findings are
tentative. However, when taken as a whole they do provide a useful guide to possible
ways of working and highlight a number of pitfalls that should be avoided.
Funding
The Partnership for Bexley is committed to building strong, sustainable and cohesive
communities. Adequate funding is an essential part of this, with partners needing
to access funds to deliver good-quality services to local people.
The Council is currently consulting on a new funding strategy, please take
the time to give us your views here.
The Council and the Voluntary Sector increasingly work in partnership when accessing grant monies. It is important, therefore, that effective partnership arrangements are in place at the outset to ensure the relationship is positive and constructive. With this aim, a Good Practice Protocol has been developed jointly which provides some guiding principles which are intended to help partners to think through the issues and, hopefully, to avoid many of the pitfalls.
