Local Government Association (LGA) exists to promote better local government.
It works to realise a shared vision of local government that enables local people
to shape a distinctive and better future for their locality and its communities. These
pages contain briefings, details of conferences and discussion documents on local
strategic partnerships.
- The
Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) was established by and for local government.
Its mission is to make all public services the best public services by supporting
self-sustaining improvement from within local government. The IDeA has developed a
considerable amount of knowledge about effective partnership working and experience
of working directly with partnerships to improve their performance. Their site contains
information on its framework to support local strategic partnerships.
- Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) was created on 5 May 2006 with a powerful remit to promote community cohesion and equality, as well as responsibility for housing, urban regeneration, planning and local government.
- London Borough
of Bexley is
responsible for a wide range of services and plays a key role in championing
the interests of the local community. It works with, amongst others, the local
police and NHS to improve the quality of life, well-being and safety of its
residents.
- National
Statistics is the UK's home of official statistics, reflecting Britain's economy,
population and society at national and local level.
- Government Office for
London (GOL) represents
central government across the capital, delivering policies and programmes for
eleven central government departments in a joined up way, and making London's
case in Whitehall.
