Working together for a safer Bexley
Training Courses
Bexley Community Safety Partnership's training programme
is produced on a six monthly basis, so if you need a date
beyond those shown please check this site again shortly.
If you work with drug or alcohol users or potential users in Bexley, you can
access free training in drug and alcohol awareness. As any treatment or support
services outlined in the programme will be specific to Bexley it is important
that your work is based in the borough. Training courses are open to paid or
voluntary workers.
We can also provide training for companies who have, or want to introduce,
workplace drug policies. There may be a charge for this training. If your work
or organisation is based outside Bexley borough you may be able to access training
via your local Drug Action Team.
If you wish to book a place or need further information please call Maureen
Brennan on 01322 356374 or Joanne Powell on 01322 356372.
About the programme
The programme began in 2003 and has attracted a lot of interest and excellent
feedback. The drugs and alcohol awareness courses give you the chance to learn
about a variety of substances, including alcohol, in one session and will also
help you to find the right treatment of support service for your clients in Bexley.
In addition to the drug and alcohol awareness courses we also run the Home
Office course "An Introduction to Crime and Disorder Reduction" which
looks at a problem solving model in relation to crime and disorder issues.
All courses are free of charge (although there is a £25 charge for
non-attendance without reasonable notice). Our courses are open to anyone who
works on community safety or deals with drug or alcohol users or potential users
or their families.
If you have a group of 8 or more people to train you may want to discuss the
option of running training exclusively for your group. There may be a charge
for this but you will be able to tailor the courses to suit your needs. Please
call Jackie Grant on 020 8294 6270 for more details and to discuss the options.
We can also work with businesses to help you develop "drugs and alcohol
in the workplace" policies or check your existing ones. Again, we can offer
training in drugs awareness and community safety issues for your managers or
staff to complement the launch of a new policy; a charge will be made for any
training. Please call Jackie Grant on 020 8294 6270 for more information.
