Introduction to Crime & Disorder Reduction - one-day course

This course is designed to give delegates an insight into some of the techniques used to identify issues relating to crime and disorder. It is facilitated by a Home Office Associate Trainer and is an opportunity to gain a basic understanding of the subject for those who have an interest in this area or who have to consider these issues to fulfill their obligations under Section 17 of the Crime and Disorder Act.

Learning Objectives

  • Use the Problem Analysis Triangle to identify a potential crime and disorder problem and identify appropriate solutions and interventions
  • Use the Routine Activity Theory to generate possible solutions to a potential crime and disorder problem
  • Understand terms or techniques like target hardening, environmental design and "capable guardian"
