Bexley Care Trust - Bexley Care Trust is a new NHS organisation, formed on the 1st October 2003. The organisation brings together:
- all the staff, services and functions of the former Bexley Primary Care Trust, and
- some of the services previously provided by London Borough of Bexley Social Services for older people and disabled people, aged 18 and over.
- Bexley Education Business
Partnership -
Bexley Education Business Partnership's role is to broker links between education,
business and the wider community. Bexley EBP works with business and community
volunteers, through various programmes, to raise the achievement of young people
in Bexley schools and colleges. We also support the work-related curriculum for
all ages between 5 and 18 through a variety of projects.
- Bexley
Voluntary Services Council - The BVSC's work falls into 6 main areas:
- providing information and resources including Voluntary Sector
News, a printing service and a minibus for hire
- bringing the voluntary sector together to exchange views and
ideas through a variety of forums and networks
- supporting voluntary sector development by assisting new groups and projects and enabling existing groups to develop
- running a Volunteer Bureau to recruit volunteers for local voluntary groups
- assisting the voluntary sector to promote their views on issues that affect them
- promoting partnership with the public and private sectors in the formulation of policy and development and delivery of services.
- Children's
Fund Partnership - This is aimed at addressing the gap in preventative
services for children and young people aged five to thirteen at risk of social
exclusion.
- Connexions -
Connexions is the Government's support service for all young people aged 13 to
19 in England. The service aims to provide integrated advice, guidance and access
to personal development opportunities for this group and to help them make a
smooth transition to adulthood and working life. The success of Connexions depends
on the involvement of young people - listening to and taking account of their
views in the design and delivery of Connexions will be essential.
- Metropolitan
Police - The Community Safety Unit (CSU) is responsible for the
investigation of hate crimes within the Borough of Bexley. This includes racist
crime, domestic violence, homophobic crime and hate mail. The unit is committed
to working in partnership with both the statutory and voluntary organisations
in the borough to improve the quality of life for the residents.
- North
Kent Dyslexia Association - North Kent Dyslexia Association serves
Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich boroughs to give information to and help for parents,
teachers, adults and interested professionals.
- Oxleas
NHS Trust - Oxleas NHS Trust is in south east London and provides
services for people living in the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich and
specialist services to people living in Lewisham and North Southwark.

SureStart - Providing new opportunities for pregnant women and families with children under the age of four years - living in parts of Thamesmead, Lower Belvedere and Erith. Sure
Start is a central Government initiative, which is divided into 524 local programmes around England and Wales.
The aim of all Sure Start local programmes is:
Making life better for children, parents and communities by bringing together
- Early education
- Childcare
- Health and family support
North Bexley Sure Start provides new opportunities for families by working closely
in partnership with local organisations who provide family services, the voluntary
sector, the Government and other statutory agencies. Parents play a vital decision-making
role in the development of new activities and programmes.

Youth
Offending Team - Bexley's Youth Offending Team is responsible for
providing or co-ordinating local Youth Justice Services. It works with children
and young people aged between 10 and 17 who are offending, or at risk of offending.
It is multi disciplinary and includes staff from Social Services, Police, Probation,
Health and Education. Its principal aim of the Team is to reduce youth crime.
