Children's & Young People's Services
Children's & Young People's Plan & Annual Performance Assessment
Introduction
Bexley's Children and Young People's Plan is a key document in promoting the development of all services for children, young people and their families in Bexley. It is a single, strategic, overarching plan for all services, covering the three years from April 2006 to March 2009, with an annual programme and a process of yearly review.
Its purpose is to support more integrated and effective services to meet the outcomes for children set out in the Government's "Every Child Matters: Change for Children" strategy.
It identifies children and young people for whom outcomes need to be better and
shows how and when this improvement will be achieved.
The Plan was prepared jointly with the Council's partners in delivering services,
including health and social services, schools, colleges, general practitioners,
the police and, crucially, the voluntary and community sector. It has also relied
heavily on the contributions of children and young people to the process of co-owning
and co-leading the challenges for children and young people in Bexley.
The Plan has been evaluated and reviewed at the end of each year as part of
the Annual Performance Assessment (APA) process. This year’s APA,
looking at 2007/08, is published at the link below.
A new action plan for 2008/09 was published in June. This is also available
at the link below.
