Work-Life Balance
Work-life balance is about businesses identifying with their workforce how
both can benefit from a more imaginative approach to working practices. Many
businesses have already discovered that it has many benefits;
- Better recruitment, retention and motivation of staff
- Less stress, less sickness and less absenteeism
- Increased productivity, service delivery and profits.
This is an initiative set up by the Government who have introduced the 'Work-Life
Balance Challenge Fund' to assist with their commitment. Following is a quote
by Margaret Hodge the former Minister of Employment and Equal Opportunities:
"More and more employers are finding that work-life balance is good for
their business as well as good for their employees. We're glad to support these
awards."
Also is a quote from Sally Evans. Equal Opportunities Manager at Lloyds TSB:
"It is essential for businesses to realise that working life is changing
and that individuals are often having to juggle a wide range of responsibilities
both at home and at work. Large and small organisations cannot afford to ignore
the importance of work-life balance; it brings real benefits both for the organisation
and for the individual."
We at Bexley would like to support local employers with any childcare issues
they may have and in partnership establish a working package to assist with this
very important issue.
