Employers & Childcare

  • Do many of your staff want to take their annual leave during the school holidays?
  • Do you have a high level of absenteeism due to breakdown of employees' childcare arrangements?
  • Do you lose valuable staff following maternity leave?

If the answer to any of the above is YES then you should ask:

What, as an employer, can I do about these problems?

These are all issues that may affect you as an employer and cost your company valuable working hours, time and money spent training new staff.

"In 62% of couples with dependent children, both parents are employed."

"Research has shown that lack of childcare facilities can affect absenteeism, lateness and retention of staff."

What is a Family Information Service?

The Family Information Service offers up to date, accurate information on childcare available for children and young people aged 0 to 19 years in the Bexley borough. This information allows parents and carers the opportunity to select suitable care to meet not only theirs, but their child's individual needs, thus allowing them the confidence and peace of mind to secure work.

"Large sums of money are wasted on recruitment and training, because some employees with valuable skills cannot remain in the workforce when they have children because of lack of quality childcare."
Business in the Community - Corporate Cultural and Caring.

How can a Family Information Service help you?

As an employer you clearly want the best from your staff in terms of commitment, enthusiasm and drive. This can however, be affected dramatically if staff are worried about their childcare arrangements. The Family Information Service can offer a range of services to assist your staff, such as:

  • Telephone helpline to a childcare advisor.
  • Up to date information on current childcare vacancies in the area.
  • Personalised childcare information packs (individual or employers).
  • Wide range of leaflets on choosing childcare.
  • Surgeries held on site (if required).
  • Staff childcare needs questionnaire.
  • Notice board pack with general information (updated every 4 months).
  • Training for personnel staff in the use of our information when assisting employees.

"Many parents find that juggling their work and home lives puts them under considerable stress."
Parents at Work.
