Beacon Status

Bexley has been awarded Beacon Status for its Foster Care Services.

Bexley's child care policy and practice emphasises the importance of retaining children wherever possible within their families, and where this is not possible, in substitute families within the local community.

Since 1990, Bexley has made significant improvements to its fostering resource so that a child will only be placed in a residential home if it is clearly in that child's best interests. The borough places over 76% of looked after children in family placements.
