The London Borough of Bexley wants to hear the views of local people and other interested parties on a Residential Design Code for Crayford Town Centre. An exhibition including plans and sketches is on display at Crayford Library until Friday, 28 March.
The Draft Residential Design Code for Crayford Town Centre (3.22MB, PDF file) sets out Bexley's aspirations for the design of new housing in Crayford Town Centre. The aim of the Code is to encourage good contextual design, both traditional and contemporary, taking Crayford's architectural and industrial legacy into consideration. This legacy dates back to the Victorian period. The Code has been developed using the 2005 Crayford Strategy and Action Plan.
The Code also takes into account current policies for sustainable development, including those set out in Bexley's Sustainable Design and Construction Guide. These include the use of renewable energy sources, water conservation, along with material and water management.
The Code gives a high priority to the improvement of the River Cray corridor as a strong feature within the town.
Any comments on the Residential Design Code for Crayford should be sent by Friday, 28 March:
