Draft Open Space Strategy
This consultation has now closed and these pages are provided for information only.
Introduction
The London Borough of Bexley is consulting local residents, community and voluntary organisations and other agencies on a Draft Open Space Strategy. The Strategy will provide a framework for the future planning and management of open space and sports and recreation facilities in the Borough.
Open spaces and parks and are central to the character and identity of Bexley. They provide a number of benefits to the local community. They balance the urban environment and contribute to the quality of life of local residents. Open space, sport and recreation facilities provide focal points for healthy exercise and community interaction, and can improve the well-being of residents, workers and visitors alike. Open space and recreation also have important roles to play in delivering national and regional objectives and achieving key Council priorities.
The Open Space Strategy will form part of the evidence base for the Local Development Framework (LDF). It will also guide the production of future plans for services provided by the Council and our partners
The Consultation Draft of the Open Space Strategy builds on the findings of earlier consultation, which included questionnaires, neighbourhood ‘drop in’ sessions, an internet survey for children and young people, and user group workshops.
