Bexley Admissions Forum
Under the provisions of the Education Act 2002, Local Education Authorities are
required to establish an Admissions Forum, to discuss and issue advice on a range
of school admissions issues. Membership of the Forum comprises representatives
of the admission authorities in Bexley ie the Council, voluntary aided and foundation
school, together with the Church of England and Roman Catholic Diocesan Authorities,
neighbouring Councils, parents and community representatives.
The issues which the Forum will look at include:
- how well admission arrangements serve the interests of children and parents;
- the comprehensiveness and accessibility of admission literature and information
for parents;
- the effectiveness of the Council’s coordinated admission arrangements,
how admission processes might be improved and how admissions relate to the published
admission numbers;
- monitoring the admission of children newly arrived in the area to ensure
the fair distribution of such children among local schools; and
- the promotion of admission arrangements for pupils with special educational
needs, looked after children, and children excluded from school.
Meetings of the Forum are held in private but the minutes of their meetings
will be published on this website together with any advice given to admission
authorities.
